first_imgYoung people from across Nova Scotia will present projects and compete in events during the annual Nova Scotia 4-H Show. From Friday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Sept. 28, 4-H members and their families will take part in the provincial show at the Hants County Exhibition Grounds in Windsor. “The 4-H program focuses on teaching technical, leadership, public speaking and sportsmanship skills, which help our young people become future community leaders,” said Brooke Taylor, Minister of Agriculture. “It is amazing to see the accomplishments of these young people at the 4-H show.” The three-day event includes dairy and beef competitions, a fashion show, dog obedience and handling trials, a tug-of-war competition, livestock auctions, and a performance by local country singer J.D. Clarke. “We are proud to offer our youth aged nine to 21 years the opportunity to participate in more than 40 livestock and life skills activities,” said Arthur Pick, acting manager of 4-H and Rural Organizations. “For many young people, 4-H is really a stepping stone to the future.” This year, 2,400 4-H members, 1,000 4-H leaders and their families are eligible to attend the provincial show. The public is welcome to attend and admission is free.last_img read more
