first_imgNEW DELHI: In a first since the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, assuring his government’s full cooperation to the Centre for developing the national capital. “Met Narendra Modi and congratulated him for Lok Sabha victory. Delhi government plans to store Yamuna water during rainy season. One season’s water sufficient to meet one year’s Delhi’s water needs. Requested Centre’s support,” CM Kejriwal said on a Twitter post after the meeting. “Assured full cooperation of Del government. Delhi being a special state, matters related to land, law and order including the Delhi Police, come under the central government. Matters of security, bureaucratic appointments and clearances of projects have been a bone of contention between the two governments. In a shift in his stand on the central government’s healthcare scheme, CM Kejriwal said he was willing to examine if Ayushman Bharat could be integrated with his government’s scheme. Delhi is among a handful of states which have not come on board the central government’s scheme which provides health insurance to the poor. The AAP which enjoys a majority in the state assembly failed to win any seat from Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections, and ranked third in five of the seven seats. Kejriwal also skipped the meeting chaired by PM Modi on 19 June to discuss the issue of ‘One Nation, One Poll’.
