Ayala races past Arroyo Valley

Cajon 57, Elsinore 32 Sophomore guard Layshia Clarendon and sophomore center Darshae Burnside each scored 20 points to lead the Cowgirls (28-0) over the host Tigers (14-14) in a second-round game. Nicole Cooper scored 15 points in the loss for the Hawks. DIVISION II-AA Cajon opened with a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Cowgirls face Temescal Canyon on Saturday at a to-be determined site. DIVISION III-A Silverado 79, Yucca Valley 48 Ashley Richie scored 25 points with 16 assists as the Hawks (20-7) defeated the Trojans to advance to the semifinals for the first time in school history. Destiny Rudison scored 21 points and had nine rebounds with nine assists for the Hawks. DIVISION IV-AA St. Mary’s 69, Mesa Grande Academy 34 Mesa Grande couldn’t quite stay with the top-seeded team in the division, as St. Mary’s pulled away with the quarterfinal victory. Carla Bartlett had 12 points and six assists for Mesa Grande, which finished 22-6. St. Mary’s had four scorers in double figures and moved to 29-5 overall. Arrowhead Christian 48, New Roads Academy 29 Senior forward Jessilyn Conicelli posted a triple-double with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 13 steals to lead the visiting Eagles (23-5) over the Jaguars in a quarterfinal game. ACA took command from the start and led 26-8 lead at halftime. DIVISION IV-A Laguna Hills 55, Vivian Webb 34 Laguna Hills was able to keep Webb bottled up, slowly pulling away for the lopsided victory in quarterfinal play.
